Jaliya is mandinka and means “The art of the Jali”, which is about bringing pleasure and peace to people - be it through music, singing, dancing, storytelling, counselling, mediating in times of conflicts or to influence those with power to make a change.
To create understanding and awareness and bring people together are some of the most important missions for a Jali, and for Sousou & Maher Cissoko’s Jaliya Camp.
The vision for Jaliya Camp is to be a platform for cultural exchange and a meeting place for people from all over the world to exchange ideas and create together.
